BITUMCLEAN
The BitumClean project aims to develop an industrial process that would separate the bituminous fraction of tars from old roofing membranes at low cost and with no impact on the environment. Note that only the PAH part of the tars will be extracted.

About
Optimization of Recycling Bituminous Roofing Materials by Pre-extraction of Tar (PAHs)
The BitumClean project aims to make recycling old roofing membranes possible by developing an industrial process to separate the bituminous fraction from tar. This project represents both a technological and environmental challenge. Proposed solutions include the separation of different fractions through solvent extraction with solvent regeneration and/or supercritical CO₂ extraction. The expected outcomes are the recovery of purified fractions and the production of new membranes from the decontaminated fraction.
The BitumClean project is led by a consortium of seven partners, bringing together the necessary skills and expertise: Imperbel S.A., Rovi-Tech, ULiège - NCE, Centexbel, Eco-Dec, Jadition, and ULiège - PEPs.
