Moulin du Stwerdu

Stakeholder

The Moulin du Stwerdu is the last surviving 17th-century oil mill in the region. To finance its restoration and visitor facilities, an artisanal production of rapeseed oil and vinaigrettes was launched. All products are made exclusively from local ingredients, including rapeseed, Delvaux Liège syrup, and Bister mustard.

    About

The Moulin du Stwerdu, located in Braives (Fallais), is a remarkable heritage site built in 1620 and listed as a historical monument in 1983. Originally an oil mill, it operated for over 250 years before being abandoned in the early 20th century. Recently restored, it has resumed its original function through the artisanal production of vegetable oils, mainly rapeseed, and vinaigrettes made from local ingredients (rapeseed, Liège syrup, Bister mustard). Established as an SRL in 2021, the company combines heritage preservation, traditional know-how, and circular economy principles. It also offers educational tours to raise awareness about the mill’s history and cold-pressing techniques, which ensure quality and environmental respect.
