About

The WikiHouse project is an open-source initiative that aims to revolutionize affordable housing by enabling anyone to design, download, and build their own homes with minimal construction skills. The project uses CNC-milled wooden components that can be assembled like a large-scale puzzle without the need for heavy machinery or scaffolding. The homes are designed to be energy-efficient, with systems for insulation, ventilation, and even renewable energy sources that can be customized for local conditions.

A notable example of this concept is the WikiHouse 4.0, a two-story prototype built for the London Design Festival. This house was constructed by a team of volunteers in a matter of days, demonstrating the speed and ease with which these homes can be assembled. It features open-source electrical and heating systems, and even uses recycled materials like beer cans in its construction. The goal of the project is to make homebuilding accessible and affordable for everyone, offering a sustainable and customizable solution to the global housing crisis
