KIU (Keep In Use)
The project aims to repurpose complex materials and those with historical value. IDcas created the brand KIU (“Keep In Use”) to reflect this principle. The company designs and manufactures items such as lamps and clocks using composite waste and parts from racing cars and motorcycles.

About
The project focuses on identifying solutions through a design-driven approach to reduce the environmental impact of certain materials. It originated from an observation: in motorsport, carbon fiber is widely used for its technical properties (lightweight, strength). However, when parts become unusable, their disposal poses a challenge. Options such as landfilling or incineration are not considered sustainable, which led to exploring opportunities to repurpose this material.
The current objective is to develop the upcycling process, increase the amount of material reused, and diversify the range of materials while introducing new products.
Advanced manufacturing techniques enable designers to fully express their creativity. From prototyping to mass production, the chosen solutions prioritize efficiency and a reduced ecological footprint. Technologies such as waterjet or laser cutting, 3D printing with bio-based materials, and virtual reality contribute to improving the creation process.
Alongside technological solutions, traditional know-how and manual work remain essential.
Product assembly is carried out in-house, ensuring quality control and greater flexibility.
