About
Hemp4Circularity is a 2023-2026 Interreg North-West Europe project aimed at establishing a sustainable and local long-fiber hemp textile sector. Its goal is to integrate this eco-friendly and bio-based fiber into the textile value chain of North-West Europe, complementing flax production.
The project brings together 11 partners from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Germany, along with 5 associated partners, covering all stages of transformation: cultivation, mechanization, fiber and yarn production, weaving, recycling, and training.
Key Objectives and Actions
Implementation of pilot projects: crop trials, mechanized harvesting, fiber processing, textile production, and recycling solutions.
Support for farmers and the flax industry, introducing hemp as a profitable and complementary crop.
Assistance to the textile industry and brands looking for traceable, local, and sustainable raw materials.
Knowledge dissemination and awareness-raising through workshops, conferences, and training programs.
A Structuring Project for the Textile Industry
With a total budget of €3.8M, including €2.3M in ERDF funding, Hemp4Circularity aims to strengthen the circular economy and European textile sovereignty. Led by Valbiom, the project is built on transnational and interdisciplinary cooperation to reindustrialize the bio-based textile sector.
