Cypress

Project

CYPRESS is an Interreg Meuse-Rhine project aiming to position the region as a leader in circular production for electric mobility. It focuses on sustainable supply chains, pilot lines for automotive components, and workforce training for circular manufacturing.

About

The CYPRESS (Circular Production for Electrical Vehicles) project is part of the Interreg Meuse-Rhine program and aims to strengthen the region’s competitiveness in sustainable electric mobility. Its goal is to establish a highly circular and resource-efficient supply chain for the automotive industry, reducing the ecological footprint and fostering cross-border collaboration.
Key actions include:

  • Three pilot projects: a refurbished battery module, a hydrogen tank made from recycled carbon fiber, and a low-carbon gearbox housing.

  • Implementation of a physical pilot line through private investments and grant schemes.

  • Skills development: assessment studies, technological toolkits, and training programs for technicians, engineers, and managers to prepare a workforce for circular automotive production.

The project engages over 150 companies and regional stakeholders to innovate in circular materials, processes, and business models, positioning the Meuse-Rhine region as an international hub for sustainable automotive manufacturing.
