CALL FOR PROJECTS "Reducing Single-Use in Hospitals (ReSUH)"
The main objective of this call for projects is to significantly reduce the use of single-use medical products in Belgian hospitals, within an overall sustainability framework while ensuring the safety of healthcare providers and patients. These projects should demonstrate some form of complementarity with existing efforts.

About
Projects can belong to two categories:
Direct reduction in the use of single-use products for a specific type of product or identified location.
Strengthening cross-cutting processes (such as procurement, logistics, collaboration, and data sharing between actors, etc.) to reduce the use of single-use products.
Target Group
The target actors of this call for projects are hospitals (general, psychiatric, and university) approved by the Belgian public authorities. Other types of organizations can participate as subcontractors.
Funding
A maximum of 80% of the eligible project costs will be financed by the FPS Public Health, with the remainder borne by the project leader and/or the partnership. In total, the FPS Public Health has allocated a total budget of approximately €600,000 to support between 3 and 6 projects between February 2026 and February 2028.
Project selection and evaluation
Project schedule Projects will be evaluated by a jury based on criteria such as relevance, feasibility, innovation, demonstrable impact on economic, environmental, and social aspects, potential for replicability, and project quality.
Commitment and monitoring of selected projects
Project leaders commit to carrying out their project to the best of their abilities, to participate in the communication of the FPS Public Health regarding the call for projects, and to share the knowledge gained. Constructive monitoring of the projects will be ensured by a Support Committee.
Application Procedures
Interested project leaders must submit their application file before October 27, 2025, and no later than 10 a.m. An online information session was organized on September 22 to present the practical procedures of the call for projects.
