The carbon cycle distinguishes between long (fossil) and short (biomass) cycles, which have an impact on atmospheric CO2. Plastics, which are rich in carbon, can reduce their impact on the climate through reduced use, the use of biomass or recycling. The circular economy aims to keep carbon in a useful cycle for longer before releasing it into the atmosphere.
