Interior partitions play an important role in the circular economy. In addition to providing space adaptability, they can be recovered and refurbished for use in other buildings. However, they must meet safety and comfort requirements, and these performance standards must be maintained after successive disassemblies and reassemblies.

Demountable and/or adaptable partitions are a popular choice in various buildings due to their adaptability. Although the initial investment is higher than traditional partitions, this extra cost becomes beneficial if the partitions are rearranged within the first few years. These partitions, which can house technical installations, must meet safety and comfort standards, particularly in terms of stability, fire safety, and acoustic comfort.

Fire safety requirements state that partitions must have specific performance ratings (EI 30-120 minutes) depending on the building's height. Connections must be made according to the manufacturer's instructions, and successive disassemblies must not compromise performance. Regarding acoustic comfort, measures must be taken to limit sound transmission, particularly between raised floors, suspended ceilings, and the partitions.
