Areas of activity:

• Materials (solid, coated and porous): ceramics, glass, inorganic materials, functional materials, composites, etc.

• Environment: recycling, incorporation of secondary materials, assessment of air and soil pollution, energy balances, etc.

• Soils and road materials: geotechnics, expert assessments, stability, sampling, road testing, etc.

• Characterization: chemical, structural, microstructural, rheological, tribological, thermal and thermomechanical, electrical and electrochemical... INISMa is a non-profit association founded in 1973 on the initiative of UMONS, IDEA and a group of ceramics manufacturers (INS). It works in synergy with CRIBC and INS, and is associated with three other Hainaut-based research centers active in the fields of environment, materials and processes (Certech-CTP-Materia Nova). These centers have come together under the umbrella of EMRA (Environment and Materials Research Association). The aim is to develop synergies, share experience and equipment, and file joint research programs. Standardized and other tests INISMa is ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 certified for its testing activities. Equipment :

• Platform for chemical, mineralogical, structural and microstructural (FIB FE-SEM), thermal and thermomechanical materials characterization, shared with CRIBC.

• Soil characterization platform on site and in the laboratory

• Flat, hollow and special glass characterization platform

• Road materials characterization platform, including on worksites

• Air pollution emission characterization platform, shared with CRIBC
