Event details

Today, more than 60% of global environmental impacts (Global Outlook Report 2024) are due to waste production and resource demand. To reduce this, European and regional measures support the deployment of the circular economy, notably through principles such as maintaining the value and usefulness of products and resources for as long as possible.

In this context, companies and designers will be required to shift towards this approach, which demands knowledge, tools, methods, and design strategies.

Program:

Morning

  • Theoretical introduction to repairability: regulations, barriers to repair in current design schemes;

  • Presentation of the Disassembly Map and Hot Spot Mapping tools (TU Delft);

Afternoon

  • Hands-on experience with the Disassembly Map through a group device disassembly workshop;

  • Hands-on experience with Hot Spot Mapping;

  • Redesign;

  • Sharing of learnings.

The learnings from this workshop will focus on:

  • A global vision of the barriers and challenges related to product repair;

  • A review of specific design strategies;

  • An introduction to various tools and methods to better analyze and critique product design in terms of repairability, and to design solutions that take product repair into account.

This workshop is limited to 12 participants. It is free upon registration request. Registration closes on September 26, 2025.
