Introduction to Wood Construction Systems (sep-oct 2026)

Training Objectives

Acquire an initial understanding of the techniques, trades, and skills related to timber construction for single-family housing, in order to facilitate access to employment in this expanding sector.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Situate timber construction versus concrete/masonry

• Identify its advantages: energy performance, speed, lightness, durability Identify and recognize construction systems: timber frame, CLT, post-and-beam, prefabricated panels

• Identify common construction joints in timber construction (wall/floor connections, floor/roof connections, corners, interfaces, etc.)

• Understand the key principles: structure, insulation, waterproofing

Target audience

This training is intended for: students, job seekers, individuals undergoing professional retraining or seeking specialization professionals starting out in the construction sector (employees, workers, or self-employed)

• Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29, 2026: Arlon (BE) - Forem Wallonie Bois, 183 Avenue de Longwy, 6700 Arlon

• Thursday, October 1 and Friday, October 2, 2026: Namur (BE) - Namur Technical Institute, 101 Rue de la Pépinière, 5002 Namur

• Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16, 2026: Haine-Saint-Paul (BE) - Forem Training Center, Rue des Longues Haies, 2, 7100 Haine-Saint-Paul

Practical arrangements

The training takes place over two days. Learners (students, job seekers): free training, funded as part of the WOOD TO BUILD project. Professionals (employees, workers, self-employed): €234 for the two days of training. The number of participants is limited to 12 people per session to ensure optimal supervision. At the end of the training, a certificate of participation is given to each participant.
