IKEA's sustainability strategy addresses the challenges of the world around us. IKEA was founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to improve everyday life for the many. Their ambition is to reduce absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the value chain (covering the entire process: from sourcing raw materials to creating products and transportation) by at least 50% by 2030 (compared to 2016) and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, without using carbon offsets to reach this absolute reduction goal. They also aim to decouple their growth from resource use and strive to become a fair and regenerative company.

IKEA highlights circularity with their 'Second Life' spaces.

By the end of 2023, IKEA had established 'Second Life' spaces in 373 stores. These areas exemplify circular practices and provide inspiration on ways to extend the life of IKEA products. Discover the space at IKEA Liège!

Additionally, the online 'Second Life' option continues to expand and is now available in 278 stores across 24 countries.
