Event details

The Festival of New Ways of Living is an event dedicated to sustainable, low-tech, cooperative, and circular housing solutions. For four days, it brings together citizens, project leaders, local authorities, researchers, architects, construction professionals, and social economy stakeholders to exchange ideas on new ways of living and building in a more sustainable and resilient manner. The event is part of a broader movement toward ecological transition, frugal construction, energy efficiency, the social economy, and the circularity of materials and uses. Main themes: Sustainable and accessible housing. Low-tech and frugal construction. Circular economy in the building sector. Gentle densification of territories. Self-build and adaptable housing. Citizen cooperation and the social economy. Material and energy efficiency. Program Day 1 (September 10): Roundtables on housing, territories, the social economy, and innovative approaches to housing. Day 2 (September 11): Symposium on low-tech housing with presentations, case studies, feedback sessions, and discussions on sustainable construction practices. Day 3 (September 12): Visits to housing projects across Wallonia (tiny houses, mini-houses, self-build projects, demountable and circular construction systems, self-sufficient housing, etc.). Day 4 (September 13): Open house at the Hellow workshop in Genappe with tours, hands-on workshops, user feedback sessions, interactive presentations, and a collective summary of the challenges related to sustainable housing.
