Event details
In the face of the climate emergency and geopolitical upheavals, the energy transition is more than ever at the heart of priorities. But which technologies truly hold a future? Which innovations can meet tomorrow's challenges, and how can we distinguish between credible solutions and illusory promises?
Together, we will explore realistic scenarios of the energy transition, key technologies (hydrogen, electrification, storage batteries), and the strategic challenges related to their deployment.
A friendly meeting to stimulate reflection, ask your questions, and get informed about the latest developments!
Speaker:
Francesco Contino has been a professor at the Louvain School of Engineering since 2019, after beginning his academic career in 2012 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. A specialist in multi-energy systems modeling and robust optimization—which explicitly integrates uncertainties—he has published over 200 articles shedding light on the energy transition towards sustainable and resilient solutions. His work also covers energy storage (e-fuels, Carnot batteries, metallic fuels…), and more recently, he has been developing an interdisciplinary research approach to explore the leverage of sufficiency. He also produced the podcast series Exergie, which offers you cross perspectives on energy.
