And if the new regulatory obligations became a concrete lever to enhance local resources into more resilient energy?
Bioenergies represent a concrete opportunity for municipalities wishing to strengthen their energy autonomy, manage their heat needs, and valorize the resources present in their territory.
In a context where the Walloon regulatory framework is evolving and where the obligation to carry out an opportunity study for heating networks is gradually extending to an increasing number of municipalities, a question arises: how can this regulatory constraint be transformed into a real lever for territorial transition?
Wood energy, biomethanization, heating networks… what solutions exist today for local authorities? What levers can be activated at the municipal level?
Some municipalities have already engaged in this reflection
In Mons, a study conducted around a biomass boiler and a heating network made it possible to assess the interest of locally producing wood chips to feed the installation. Results: valorization of local wood, reduction in transportation, better-controlled costs, and strengthening of the territory’s energy autonomy. This approach illustrates how an energy need can become a real lever for territorial development and help structure a local value-creating sector. In Chastre, Jalhay, and Nassogne, feasibility studies were conducted to assess the potential for biogas units based on locally available organic flows. These analyses made it possible to concretely identify the opportunities in the territory and assist local authorities in guiding their decisions based on objective elements and a clearly assessed potential. Through this webinar, Valbiom offers you an introduction to bioenergy and its potential for Walloon municipalities, illustrated with concrete examples and action avenues adapted to on-the-ground realities.
The webinar will cover:
The link between regulatory obligations and the concrete solutions offered by bioenergy;
The interest in going beyond the sole study of thermal opportunity to better understand the overall potential of renewable energies in the territory;
The way in which a structured methodology (via AMUREBA and the Energy Performance Audit) can help clarify and secure projects;
The opportunities to produce and consume more local energy by utilizing the resources available in the territory.
As an AMUREBA-labeled organization, Valbiom supports municipalities in transforming these diagnostics into concrete projects adapted to their local realities.
🎯 The goal of this webinar: to give you the keys to consider the obligation of a heat opportunity study as a real decision-making tool in the service of your municipality's energy transition. Free event, registration required (form at the bottom of the page). Program: (subject to change)
