Event details

Wagralim, with the participation of Toopi Organics and Minagro, offers an event focusing on testimonials on the subject of biofertilizers for agriculture.

Presentation of the organizations

Wagralim is active in a research consortium funded by the European Commission as part of the "Horizon Europe" program. This project, called "Tribiome", focuses on improving knowledge of the soil, plant and human microbiomes, as well as their inter-relationships and inter-connections, so as to positively impact the resilience of the food system.

Deepening this knowledge will enable modeling of new tools to improve crop yields, agricultural production and food quality. In addition, innovations in the microbiome suggest the potential to enhance the sustainable production of food, feed and biofuels while supporting the principles of circularity.

Toopi Organics will be addressing the subject of urine recycling and its transformation into agricultural products. Come and find out how Toopi Organics is creating a new model for a sustainable circular economy, converting human urine into agricultural biostimulants.

You'll also discover how urine collection works, thanks to the installation of waterless urinals, which generate substantial water savings at a time when the world is affected by a shortage of this increasingly scarce resource. Farmers will have wide access to the most competitive, environmentally-friendly biostimulants tested on all crops in a wide range of pedoclimatic conditions.

Toopi Organics reduces the need to import chemical fertilizers, and creates links with the urban sector by collecting the urine of local residents, transforming it and redistributing it in the form of agricultural products. And finally, Minagro will be presenting the circular systems they are developing for more sustainable agriculture. The team will cover the following topics:

  • Development of biobased co-formulants and adjuvants from hemicellulose (sugarcane bagasse) and palm oil

  • Development of a biofertilizer from local biomass (seed2seed project)

  • Development of a biofungicide from spruce and apple extracts (BB2Manco).

Minagro also stresses that, while these circular projects are more sustainable (upstream) in terms of the process, they also need to work on the downstream. In other words, the development of high-performance alternatives to existing products that will also improve the impact of agricultural activities.
