The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is an initiative aimed at promoting awareness-raising activities on sustainable resource and waste management during a single week in November.
With the support of local and regional public authorities, we bring together a variety of other actors – citizens, schools, businesses, NGOs, and associations – who organize activities to raise awareness about waste reduction.
The Week, as we call it, is as simple as it sounds: one week in November, usually the second-to-last or last week of the month. What makes it special are the efforts and passion of thousands of volunteers who communicate about sustainable consumption and the circular economy in their communities.

Our Message
The European Week for Waste Reduction is based on the waste hierarchy.
The actions carried out during EWWR focus on the "3Rs": we encourage the REDUCTION of consumption, the REUSE of products and materials, and the RECYCLING of waste. These are the main Rs (though there are many others) to keep in mind when reassessing consumption habits.
In addition to the 3Rs, we also incorporate cleanup actions to raise public awareness about the waste problem.
