About
The increased production of batteries presents challenges in terms of waste generation and end-of-life recycling.
The project focuses on recycling new Li-ion batteries, particularly lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, offering a safer and more cost-effective alternative. By developing innovative recycling processes, it aims to create a sustainable and economically viable solution aligned with the principles of the circular economy.
This initiative positions Wallonia as a leader in the sustainable recycling of batteries, thus strengthening the local supply chain.
NORA offers a direct and cost-effective approach to LFP recycling, bypassing the traditional, expensive methods. It seeks to restore the composition and structure of degraded cathode materials, thus avoiding the need to recover precious metals individually.
