Presentation of the FORMAREC and Droit et Devoir ASBL Project
FORMAREC, in close collaboration with Droit et Devoir ASBL, is launching an integrated initiative that addresses both environmental and social challenges in the Hainaut region. This project is built on two complementary components that focus on the sustainable management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the professional integration of low-skilled individuals.
Training and Integration Component
This component establishes a Social and Professional Integration Center dedicated to the fields of dismantling, sorting, and recycling WEEE. It aims to offer specialized training programs that enable participants to acquire technical skills and a thorough understanding of waste management within a circular economy framework. The goal is to provide these individuals with new employment prospects by enhancing their expertise and integrating them into the labor market, particularly in the context of addressing unemployment challenges in the Hainaut region (Mons, Borinage, and the center).
Strengthening and Sustainability of the Hybrid Model Component
Simultaneously, FORMAREC—an established social enterprise since 2007—continues to develop by reinforcing its dismantling center, operational since 2016. This center currently processes 4,500 tonnes of WEEE per year, thereby ensuring job continuity and maintaining an efficient value chain for WEEE treatment in the Walloon region. The hybrid nature of FORMAREC—balancing social mission with economic viability—requires overcoming both internal and external challenges to operate profitably while fulfilling its social commitments. The partnership with the public sector is essential in enhancing the sustainability of the services provided to the community.
Overall Objectives
Training and Integration: Deliver practical and technical training programs that enable individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to acquire marketable skills.
Circular Economy: Promote the reuse and recovery of materials to reduce environmental impact and conserve natural resources.
Social Impact: Create job opportunities, improve participants’ quality of life, preserve existing employment, and prevent mass unemployment.
In summary, this comprehensive project embodies an ambitious approach that combines environmental innovation with social responsibility. By merging training, professional integration, and the reinforcement of a sustainable hybrid economic model, FORMAREC and Droit et Devoir ASBL are addressing current challenges in sustainable development and social inclusion, while ensuring the longevity of their activities and the valorization of WEEE within a circular economy.
