To increase the circularity of plastics, design must anticipate recycling and reuse. Denuo recommends regulations and financial incentives to involve producers right from the design stage, stressing the importance of sufficient volumes for recycling. The use of mono-materials and polymer standardization is recommended. Biodegradable packaging, while beneficial in certain contexts, disrupts the recycling of conventional plastics and often ends up being incinerated.
