Would you like to set up collective composting in your town or neighbourhood? Apply to the Walloon Region's call for proposals and benefit from one year's support from a collective composting facilitator.

According to the latest barometer of household waste prevention in Wallonia, almost half of Walloon residents still throw away their leftover food at least once a week, with a higher proportion among young people and families with children.

In addition, 56% say they compost their organic waste, and only 5% of Walloons compost collectively. In view of the scale of organic waste in Wallonia, and the benefits that compost represents for the environment (reduction in greenhouse gases, enrichment of soil nutrients, etc.), the Walloon Region is launching free collective composting support schemes!

Would you like to set up a collective composting project for household organic waste in your neighbourhood, building or commune? A facilitator can help you to design and set up your new composting site, and also train volunteer referents.

    How to apply?

    Who can apply?

Groups of households, neighbourhood committees, housing associations, ASBLs, co-ownership associations and local authorities can apply. Canteens, businesses, schools, shared gardens and any professional players generating large volumes of bio-waste are not eligible.

Submit your application before 30 June 2025!

The associations Comité Jean Pain and EEC asbl have been appointed by the Walloon Region (SPW ARNE) to lead and support the work of the Collective Composting Facilitator.
