A veritable directory of Wallonia's biosourced companies, this online map aims to identify and raise the profile of players in the biosourced economy, in order to encourage synergies between organizations. In partnership with Wallonie Entreprendre, GreenWin, the Ecoconstruction Cluster, Filière Bois Wallonie and Plastiwin, Valbiom has already listed some 450 flagship organizations that make up the Walloon biosourced landscape.

Three categories of players

The players are divided into three categories: products and materials, bioenergies and support activities.

• Products and materials include sectors such as the wood industry, eco-construction, green chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and textiles.

• Bioenergies include producers of green energy, bio-based fuels and biofuels, as well as equipment manufacturers and suppliers of these technologies.

• Support activities include research centers, consultancies, industry associations and support organizations.

The directory will also enable us to assess the size and diversity of the biobased sector in Wallonia, in order to gain a better understanding of its needs and trends. The biobased economy has been recognized as one of the pillars in the deployment of the circular economy strategy, Circular Wallonia. Since 2021, several actions have been implemented to support the development of a biosourced and circular economy in Wallonia. The biosourced directory is an essential tool in this process.
