Remind Wallonia

This is broken down into 7 projects in 4 priority areas:

• Axis 1 concerns materials for renovation or sustainable construction (with a low-energy component via thermal insulation properties) that give priority to secondary materials and limit or avoid the use of hydraulic binders (substitution by chemical binders based on polycondensation reactions);

• Axis 2 concerns the manufacture of high-performance concretes for the building and offshore sectors, which are also characterised by optimised use of secondary materials and partial substitution of commercial binders by alternative binders (pozzolanic and latent hydraulic additions).

• Axis 3 relates to the development of indurated materials, free of commercial hydraulic binders, intended for road construction and characterised by the absence of raw materials (100% secondary materials) and the manufacture of Portland cement and compounds with a reduced carbon footprint.

• Axis 4 involves developing construction and road materials containing secondary materials and whose chemical stability (immobilisation of any pollutants) and/or mechanical consolidation is ensured by a carbonation process.
