In a biomethanization unit, when injecting biomethane directly into the natural gas grid is not possible, fully utilizing the energy contained in the produced biogas can present challenges. While the electricity generated through cogeneration is easily reinjected into the electrical grid, optimizing the use of all the heat produced often proves more complex.
The Messancy Biométha unit showcases an innovative and still relatively uncommon model in Wallonia, based on a direct partnership between producer and consumer (B2B). Here, raw biogas is pre-treated on-site, then transported through a dedicated pipeline to a cogeneration unit installed at the consumer’s premises, located 300 meters away across the N81 highway.
What are the benefits and future prospects of such a model? Valbiom invites you to discover this solution during the first visit of the Biomethanization Tour 2025.
