Circular economy in Wallonia

REnversC

Project

This project offers an innovative response to today's environmental challenges. It brings together a wide network of partners from various backgrounds, united around a common goal: to sustainably transform the construction sector.

About

The Interreg VIA REnversC project, short for "Efficient Renovation towards Circularity," aims to accelerate the ecological transition in the construction sector through a cross-border collaboration between Wallonia (Belgium) and Hauts-de-France. It builds on the previous Interreg V FAI-Re project and will run from 2024 to 2028.

REnversC's main goal is to promote efficient and circular building renovation, integrating low-carbon practices and encouraging the reuse of construction materials. The project focuses on the historic Hainaut region, an area with morphological and socio-economic coherence, making it well-suited for the implementation of territorial metabolism and cross-border cooperation.

Key Action Areas

  • Training & Awareness: Offering practical training on environmentally friendly renovation methods with a strong focus on carbon neutrality.

  • Cross-sector Collaboration: Encouraging cooperation across the entire construction value chain, from design to implementation and maintenance.

  • Embedding Circularity in Practices: Integrating circular economy principles into renovation processes.

The project is led by a consortium of 9 key partners and 23 associated partners, covering the entire renovation value chain across the region.

To officially kick off REnversC, an event titled "Reuse & Construction: Innovate and Transform Together" will take place on April 4, 2025, at the Grand Hornu. This event will focus on knowledge sharing, inspiration, and networking around reuse in the building sector.
