About
The RE-ASSIGN (REcycling plAStics deSIGN) project, funded by the Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen 21-27 program, aligns with the European Green Deal and the ambition of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. It aims to support companies in their circular economy transition by designing plastic products that incorporate recycled materials (post-consumer or pre-consumer).
The partnership brings together five applied research organizations (Certech, CTP, Centexbel, CREPIM, IMT Nord Europe) and seven associated partners (essenscia PolyMatters, Plastiwin, Plastium, Team2, OVAM, Valipac, Lavoisier Circular Transition).
The work focuses on sampling methodologies and pre-processing technologies that enable quick and cost-effective characterization of plastic waste streams.
Research activities then center on optimizing recycling processes and compounding formulations to integrate the highest possible proportion of recycled materials, while meeting specific product requirements.
Lastly, the project emphasizes advanced characterization methods to address critical issues related to legacy additives, substances of concern, degradation products, and NIAS (non-intentionally added substances).
