PUR4UP - Purifying plastics for Upgrading in recycling
The Pur4Up project supported by the Walloon competitiveness clusters Mecatech (mechanical engineering) and Greenwin (chemistry and materials) aims to design new finished products incorporating high-quality recycled plastics from end-of-life vehicles (ELV) and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

About
The MecaTech cluster, Comet Traitements S.A., the University of Liège (GeMMe),
Eloy Water and Certech have decided to coordinate their
their R&D efforts through a demonstration project aimed at designing
new finished products incorporating high-quality recycled plastic materials
from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and waste electrical and electronic
electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
Comet Traitements will combine various separation, purification and quality
purification and quality monitoring techniques in the form of an original
demonstration unit. This unit will produce
recycled plastics (ABS, PS, PP, PE and Engineering Plastics such as
PA, ABS/PC, etc.) of high purity (>98%) to meet the quality requirements
quality requirements set by European plastics processors, thereby
counter the phenomenon of "downcycling".
Eloy Water will develop a new value chain in the Walloon region
in which individual wastewater treatment plant tanks and their
plant tanks and components using recycled plastics from the
from the Comet Traitements process. This is
an exemplary demonstration of the R&D and innovation strategies
and innovation strategies for implementing an upcycling strategy.
