MC2 - CTP

"MC2" stands for "Mineral Circular Centre", an ecosystem focused on the circularity of mineral materials and the creation of new materials.

The major challenge for accelerating the circular economy in the mineral sector will be to create jobs and wealth, and thus achieve the expected growth in this field while meeting regional GHG and pollution reduction targets. Firstly, we need to continue developing inter-regional and inter-sector recycling chains, taking greater account of the quality of the products that emerge from them. Secondly, we need to encourage demand for products and services through policies that support innovation, involving industrial players at different levels of the value chain and belonging to the upstream and downstream sectors that make it up.

The aim is to set up an ecosystem dedicated to the circularity of these mineral materials, in order to create circular and innovative materials, and to set up new product recovery channels, while retaining as much added value as possible in the Walloon region (principle of short circuits). A true reference center, the Technopôle will support the economic and entrepreneurial fabric of the Tournai district, and more widely of Wallonia: applied research, awareness-raising, networking, creation of synergies, support and advice for businesses,

Support will encourage the emergence of new production/consumption processes and help reduce the impact on resources. As a growth driver, the ecosystem will provide companies with appropriate infrastructures and create new jobs. As the first cluster of its kind, it will give a decisive boost to the implementation of a circular economy dynamic in Picardy Wallonia, and more generally in Wallonia.

Thanks to the development of these new technologies, the "MC2-CTP" project will promote the creation of a new sector in the Arrondissement of Tournai (and more widely in Wallonia), reinforcing the circularity of materials and reducing Walloon and European dependence.
