About

By combining advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and thermal engineering, CARBOBIO is developing a unique process that enables the production of activated carbon, biochar, and charcoal in an efficient, competitive, and environmentally responsible way. The automation of log handling and the optimization of production cycles aim to improve profitability, reduce energy consumption, and ensure the quality of the finished products.

The project aims to reduce CO₂ emissions related to the transport of raw materials by 30%, to valorize 30,000 tons of forest waste per year, and to create 20 to 30 direct and indirect jobs. Its modular and scalable model allows for local deployment close to resources and paves the way for international development.

Supported by an industrial and academic consortium, CARBOBIO is fully aligned with the transition to a circular and low-carbon economy. It offers a local and innovative alternative to imported products while strengthening Wallonia's industrial sovereignty. Its potential for expansion in Europe and internationally positions the project as a technological benchmark in the sustainable production of bio-based carbon materials.
